EU aids China with 128 million Euros

The EU Aid programme has allocated over 128 million Euros to aid China over a 4 year span. The aide deal will carry through the year 2013 and will help China with:

* Support for areas covered by EU-China policy dialogues, including bilateral relationship in trade, business exchanges, socio-economic development and support for the internal reform process
* Global concerns over climate change, the environment, and energy
* Human resources development

These are seen as vital areas in which China requires aide in order to be a better global trading partner. This is all part of the EU-China Country Strategy Paper released in 2007.

Status of China EU relations

What began back in 1975 when the EU and China first began a Trade and Cooperation Agreement has now blossomed in to a profitable relations for both parties. This treaty has continued to grow and has even been revised in 2007 to create a more strategic partnership. We now see that the EU is China’s second biggest trade partner and China is the EU’s biggest trade partner. Confidence is key to EU-China trade relations

The trade commissioner for the EU Cathrine Ashton has recently asked that the EU and China show more confidence in each other as trading partners so that they can create a better, deeper and lasting partnership that will benefit both parties economically. This call for for confidence came during the commissioners speech at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing, China. Keynotes during that speech highlighted that the the EU and China trade about 300 Billion Euro worth of goods on a annual basis and it could vastly increase with more cooperation.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to strengthen EU relationship

The premier of China Wen Jiaboa has recently visited the EU and specifically Brussels to try and strengthen the relationship between the Eu and China. Jiaboa met with other EU leaders such as European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Mirek Topolanek. During their meetings they not only vowed to “positively change the UN economic outlook for December 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark” but they were also able to sign nine agreements, covering health, customs, education, intellectual property rights, environment and civil aviation. This all signals a broader and deeper relationship for China and the EU.

EU and China train managers in Chinese business culture

A new four year initiative called the The EU-China Manager Exchange and Training programme (METP) which was developed by the European Commission and the Chinese Government is designed to help EU and China trade relations. The non-profit programme, METP is aimed at helping managers learn about business culture in China. Topics such as Chinese culture are the main topics discussed in the programme which has 200 participants from each region. The 400 managers will learn more about each other and how to work more closely together in the future.
